2020 Ski & Board Fanatics!

Calling ALL skiers and snowboarders!!!! The BEST season is right upon us! I know we are all itching to get out and have some fun on the mountain!

As we know 2020 ski and snowboard season will be looking a little different this year. MOST, but not ALL resorts are going with a reservation system. This means we will have to reserve a spot on the mountain in order to ski for that day.

STAY AHEAD OF THE CROWDS BY RESERVING EARLY!

**Pass holders, if you are planning any big trips or know the dates you want to get up I HIGHLY recommend that you reserve your spots NOW!

Each resort will vary on how many days in advance you have to make these reservations as well as the amount of skiers and boarders they are allowing on the mountain. This system will allow social distancing and control of who is on the mountain.

 & what their guidelines are)

Some mountains I plan to ski this year are Winter Park, CO, Beaver Creek, CO, Vail, CO, and Keystone,CO.

I spent a lot of time freshman year at Winter Park and it is one of my favorite mountains to ski in Colorado so far! I have heard amazing things about the other resorts I mentioned and can’t wait to tell you guys about my experiences there!

With all of this aside I know we are excited to get out and have some fun in the fresh mountain air.

I am planning to head up to the mountains with my volleyball teammates and friends this season! Who do you plan to shred with this season?  Comment below

Stay tuned to hear about my ski experience and get the inside intel this year!

Utah 2 Colorado: Road Trip

The top of Angels Landing is behind us!

This past summer I drove from my hometown Santa Clarita, California through Utah and ended in Colorado Springs, where I am attending school.

Instead of staying in hotels along the way, my boyfriend and I decided to make it an adventure and camp. Our first stop was in Zion Canyon National Park, where we stayed two quick days and one night. Although we weren’t there for long we still saw some stunning parts of the national park. We decided on two of the most famous hikes Angels Landing and The Narrows.

For those of you who don’t know Angels Landing is an amazing and unique hike. The first half is a normal dirt switchback trail and the second half when you are summiting you are on a small ledge holding onto a chain the whole way up. The experience was exhilarating to say the least.

The Narrows was the most breathtaking hike I have done to date. Walking through the river with these huge rock formations and trees on both sides of us was amazing. Every turn we made the scenery just kept getting more gorgeous.

The Narrows Hike!

The next stop we made was in Beaver, Utah, which was a small little town, but the lake we were at was about 30 min into a mountain. This lake was so secluded and quiet and perfect for fishing.

After Beaver we headed to Moab, Utah where we stayed one night. This campsite was just outside of Moab, where we went to go see the Arches. There are so many arches to go see and hike and we only saw half of them, but I definitely plan on going back. The town of Moab is awesome and has a lot of things to do.

The point of this trip was to go adventure and make memories instead of just drive from one destination to the next and stay in hotels to pass the time.

We made so many memories hiking, fishing and exploring the different towns and what nature has to offer. I encourage everyone to go camping at some point and adventure especially in Utah as the National Parks there are all absolutely breathtaking!

5 Tips to Kick-start YOUR New Year!

Now that we have made it through the whirlwind of the holidays, it’s time to focus on the new year ahead of us.

I don’t know about you guys but for me the time from Thanksgiving to the New Year always flies by.

Every year I think I will be able to have time to do my Christmas shopping, and next thing you know I am cramming it all in last minute and before I know it, Christmas is over and it’s the New Year.

Do you relate to the craziness of the holidays? It is my absolute favorite time of the year even though it is quite chaotic!

After the holidays always brings a New Year and that means new opportunities to make changes within your life, set goals, and grow as an individual.

I’m going to give you guys 5 ways to kick-start YOUR New Year !

  1. Make 5 goals and post them where you can see them. They should be
  • long or short term
  • reachable
  • measurable
  • specific
  • time sensitive

Put them in writing and in FRONT of you to look at everyday

This next tip I have for you all is one of my favorites. It is what has helped me grow a lot this year and just have more fun overall…

  1. Focus on the positives… leave the negatives behind in 2019. It’s a new year which means new memories are coming.

This one is so important because a lot of times it is so easy to get caught up in all of the negatives that life brings.

Last year I caught myself doing this and I made it a point to start focusing on as many positive things that I could and it has helped me be a lot happier and live my life to the fullest.

  1. Do the thing you always wanted to do, and make that goal a reality
  • For instance my blog, I started it just because writing is a passion of mine as well as being able to help others. I feel like this is a great platform for me to be able to help as well as continue my passion of writing. It makes me happy and I am so glad I just went for it and started this blog!
  1. Set aside time for yourself everyday! (You can do some of these activities below)
  • Take a Nap
  • Listen to Music
  • Draw
  • Watch your favorite TV show
  • Take a Walk Outside
  • Workout

-These are all important to ensure you aren’t getting tired or sitting at a desk all day working or just being lazy around the house. Some of my favorite things to do when I get tired and lazy are to go workout, listen to my favorite music, or just spend time in nature.

  1. Make fitness a LIFESTYLE not a “I HAVE to workout”
  • Fitness has a huge benefit and is a great stress reliever as well
  • You will see that making fitness a priority in your life will change so many things within yourself and you will feel amazing.

Most importantly have FUN. We have one life to live and why not live every moment to the FULLEST!!

What do you plan on doing this year? Create a goals sheet? Travel more? Set more time aside for yourself?

(Comment down below I would love to hear what your plans are for the new year to start off strong)

Favorite Holiday Traditions!

The holiday season has begun and is in full swing. For me this is my favorite time of the year as we get to spend time with family and friends and give back to others.

I was raised with a loving and caring family and I love to spend time with them. Thanksgiving is always the best because we all come together and have a huge dinner while we spend time catching up with each other and relaxing.

Being away in college I don’t get to see my family a whole lot so when I do I make the most of it. Whenever we are together we always play the piano, my dad and Aunt bring out their guitars and we all rock out as a family.

Our favorite song to sing as a family is Hotel California by the Eagles, Some other song we jam to are “Who are You” by The Who, “Shine”, “Hold my Hand” by Hootie and The Blowfish.

We do this every Christmas and Thanksgiving when we are together as a family and it is one of my favorite traditions. Usually I go to my boyfriend’s house in the morning on Thanksgiving and they have an earlier dinner.

After we spend time with his whole family and are stuffed we head over to my house for our second dinner. By the end of the day we are so full and can’t move, but it was time well spent with family.

As I get older and my life changes I make time for others in my life like my boyfriend and his family. I think it is so fun to be able to go over to his house and celebrate the holidays with his family as well as my family.

Another tradition I cherish is going to see Christmas lights around town. All of the traditions that I have grown up with old and new are always so much fun when it is spent with the ones I love.

These are the moments I cherish and the reason I love family time. I value spending time with friends and family, because it truly allows me to live my life to the fullest.

What are your favorite part of the holidays? Comment down below I would love to hear!

I hope everyone had a happy holiday and enjoyed time with your families and loved ones.

Big Big Plans Tour: Chris Lane Concert

For those of you who like country music, especially more modern country, the name Chris Lane might ring a bell. One of his biggest hits at the moment is “Big, Big Plans”, he wrote the song to propose to “Bachelor” star Lauren Bushnell who was on Ben Higgins season.

My roommates and I bought tickets to his concert on Dec. 7 at a small venue in Denver. We wanted to go out and do something all together and it was so much fun. If you read my Post Malone blog you know that I did something similar with one of my teammates for our birthdays.

We found $30 tickets online for this concert and decided that it would be so much fun to go out and have fun together! We drove down to denver and rode those electric scooters you see all over the sidewalks in big cities. We were having so much fun and rode them for about an hour and a half.

Once we got to the venue we got in line and as we were standing in line all of the performers walked right in front of us through the backstage door. Gabby Barrett and her band as well as Chris Lane and his wife Lauren Lane. I could not believe myself when Chris Lane and Lauren were walking right in front of us as we were standing in line, I had a fan-girl moment for sure and I was starstruck for a while after.

We got into the venue and were so close to the stage the first opener was a guy named Earnest and he was amazing. We came to find out that he wrote the song “Heartless” by Morgan Wallen and Diplo as well as “If I Know Me” by Morgan Wallen. He is definitely a star on the rise.

Next was 19 year old Gabby Barrett, she was amazing, she took the stage with so much passion and energy. She was on American Idol in 2018, since her third place finish she has been writing some amazing songs one of my favorites is “I Hope”.

Chris Lane then came on stage and being so close to him felt surreal to me. He was amazing and the stories he told throughout the show about his wife Lauren and how they met as well as him and his brother who is his drummer in the band were so personal and it made us feel connected to him for a little bit.

He brought his wife Lauren on stage and everyone went crazy over seeing this Bachelor star on stage with her new husband. His most recent song “Big Big Plans” was the song he proposed to his wife with and everyone sung the song as loud as they could.

By spending $30 I was able to have a fun night and see some amazing country artists perform as well as see them walk right in front of me. If you ever get the chance, I recommend that you all splurge on that concert ticket that you want because the experience will be unforgettable.

Saugus Shooting Bringing Everyone Together

On this Thanksgiving day as I reflect on the devastating event that happened on November 14th, 2019 in Saugus, California, my heart aches for my community. This was something no one ever thought would happen, but an event that has brought the community closer than ever. A high school kid opened fire on the Saugus High School campus. This happened so quick and the students and faculty had little to no time to react.

Events like these are the unimaginable, but what I have learned is to hug those you love and to never take a moment for granted. I grew up a block away from Saugus High School and went to Valencia High School right around the corner. A bunch of my close friends went to Saugus and I would go visit them all the time. When I heard the news the morning of November 14th my heart dropped.

I never thought something like this would happen in the very town I grew up in. I immediately text all of my friends to make sure they were safe and was praying no one was injured. A few things that ran through my mind at the time were why would someone do this? Why do people want to injure others, it does not help anyone around us? How could this event have been avoided? If we were all accepting of one another and loved each other this world would be a better place.

As I think about this tragedy I realize more than ever, to never take a moment for granted because you are never promised the next day. It’s events like these that remind me how precious life really is and how important everyone in my life is. I encourage everyone to reach out to people you haven’t talked to in awhile and reconnect with them. Do something random and special for someone you love or even a stranger. Support your community by participating in fundraisers or doing community service. Live life each and every day to its fullest, help people face adversity with strength, faith and love. We all have the ability to lift each other up, together we can make a difference.

Living Life: Post Malone Concert

Seeing Post Malone Live only brings one phrase to my mind and that is to live life to the fullest. One of the most well known hip-hop, R&B artists of our time knows how to put on a show.

Austin Richard Post also known for his stage name as Post Malone, has made a trademark for himself. After Tyla Yaweh and Swae Lee performed Post Malone took the stage and drew the crowd in immediately. With the flashing of lights and his “Hollywood’s Bleeding” intro playing we were all on our toes waiting for the legend to take stage.

“B***, I’m young Stoney, I do what I want”

Post Malone

These are the famous lyrics from his hit “Candy Paint” and Posty definitely lived by what he said at the Pepsi Center on November 10th. My best friend, Maren and I decided to celebrate our birthdays by going and doing something rather than buying a material item for each other.

Post ran on stage and started singing “Hollywood’s Bleeding” which is also the title of his newest album. He poured passion and energy into this performance and the whole entire arena was yelling and screaming.

This was my second Post Malone concert and I can say he knows how to work the stage and his vocals are unreal. My favorite performance which he played at both concerts was “Stay”. It was just him and a guitar as he sung the lyrics, “Tell me that it’s all okay, Ive been waiting on this all damn day”. His voice is so raw and pure, but when he is just with the guitar it really puts into perspective how talented he is.

This video shows his iconic song “Die for me”, the colors, smoke, vocals, and use of the stage was captivating to say the least. Every song on this album is unbelievable and explains why it has stayed number 1 on the Billboards top 200 album chart for the 5th non consecutive week. Hollywoods Bleeding is the first album to reach this achievement in the past five years since Drakes album Scorpion

This concert was the perfect way to spend our 20th birthday and it was the best decision we made. The memories we made were unforgettable and the experience was one of a kind. I encourage all of you to do the same, go experience things and make memories. Live your life to the fullest and you won’t regret a single moment.

Make it a great day,

Sunday November 10th:

Live music on the Main Lodge Sundeck

My family has a place in Mammoth and everytime we are up there the atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is always so nice and they look like they are having the time of their lives.

One of my favorite runs is to take chair 23 all the way to the top of the mountain and ski “Cornice” or “Scotty’s run” all the way down to chair 2 which is right by The Mill. This is a perfect run for those of you who are more advanced skiers and boarders.

On the other hand if you are looking for less of a challenge another great run is to take chair 3 up and go off the back side. The snow there is always amazing and it is a wide groomed run perfect for intermediate skiers and boarders. I love taking this all the way down to either chair 1 for an easier terrain or chair 2 for a slightly steeper slope.

Be sure to stop by Main Lodge and The Village to get a free t-shirt with any purchase! These opening weekend events will make for a perfect family friends getaway for the long veterans day weekend.

Plan your trips to Mammoth now if you are looking to have fun with family and friends on the slopes. Don’t forget to follow Mammoth mountain on instagram @mammothmountain for all of the latest updates and events going on!
